Wet Ink Games is pleased to announce our first game is now complete and available for purchase. Wild Skies: Europa Tempest, is on DriveThruRPG in digital, softcover and hardcover options.
Wild Skies is a full role playing game of pulp-inspired adventure set in a “diesel-punk” version of 1930s Europe. In this world the Great War did not turn out well for anyone and political instability led to new governments and lots of mercenary soldiers looking for work. The setting is fully described and includes all the airplanes, political machinations, flying battleships and on-going military conflicts you can shake a control stick at. We should also mention there have never been humans in this world and instead everyone is a humanoid animal.
Through the design of this complete rules system, we made sure to keep the focus on the collaborative storytelling. Wild Skies offers a robust character creation process with no randomness so you can create and play any sort of character you want. There are 40 Animal Types each with several Abilities to choose from, 20 Career paths with set starting skill bonuses and over 80 Skill Specializations. Each character also has a personal Moral Compass. Players assign Motivations to the eight points of the compass as well as the Rewards for progressing toward each Motivation. You can set up a Cash Reward for the Wealth Motivation and complete the same story arc over and over again if you want. There are lots of other stories to tell, though. Maybe you will find yourself torn between Compassion (because you want a new Skill) and Revenge (because you also want a new Ability). Wild Skies encourages you to play out the stories you want to tell about your character.
We can’t talk about this book without mentioning all the fine people who have made it possible. First off, this was a Kickstarter funded project so we have to say thanks again to all the family and friends who sent their support our way. We also have to thank the many wonderful artists we worked with. Many of them have been in the games industry for a long time and you will probably recognize their names. They have produced some amazing art which really gives you a look at this world and helps make this book something we are proud to have our names on.
Wild Skies: Europa Tempest will be for sale at the IGDN booth (#2437) at GenCon and Wet Ink Games will be running games in the Louisville, KY area throughout the late summer and fall. This is only the beginning. Now that we have launched our first project, it’s time to think about the follow up. Keep watching the skies!
